THE TRINKA STORY

By Johannsen Boat Works Florida

The Trinka dinghy designed by Bruce P. Bingham, N.A in 1972 is a remarkably beautiful yacht tender. Her gracefully curved sheer line, slightly “wineglass” transom and plumb bow give her a classic and distinctive appearance.

The Trinka is more than beautiful, she was conceived not to cut production costs nor to compete in the low-priced dinghy market, but to be an incomparably rugged, practical and reliable servant of utility. Hundreds of “one-off ” Trinkas have been produced around the world and ours are produced with the same individual attention to detail and quality.
To assure the most faithful Trinka reproduction Mr Bingham supervised the hull lofting, oversaw the plug and mold development and created numerous special assembly drawings for us.

The Trinka has proven itself over the years, it is the only fibreglass dinghy endorsed by critical author and famous world sailor Donald M. Street. The dinghy was featured in the Complete Live-Aboard Book by K.M Burke while Jeff Spranger, editor of Practical Sailor says “I couldn’t find a really good dinghy so I had to build my own!” (Jeff’s dinghy is a Trinka)

Mr.Bingham’s own Trinka which we used as our prototype has been in daily use for more than ten years and withstood thousands of nautical miles of towing. There could not have been a more demanding standard setter, and now the Trinka can be yours.

The Builder

All Trinka’s are built by Johannsen Boat Works in Florida U.S.A and are fully imported into Australia by Dinghy &Yacht Tenders.
A deliberate decision was taken not to produce the boats under licence in Australia so as to preserve the expertise, experience and quality control of this remarkable dinghy.
